Parts of speech কাকে বলে? কত প্রকার ও কি কি?

Sentence এর অন্তর্গত প্রতিটি অর্থবোধক word-কে এক একটি Parts of speech বলে। Parts of speech মোট আট প্রকার। যথা–

১। Noun

২। Pronoun

৩। Adjective

৪। Verb

৫। Adverb

৬। Preposition

৭। Conjunction

৮। Interjection

১। Noun

১. Countable Noun :

যে সকল Noun কে গণনা বা Count করা যায়, তাদেরকে Countable Noun বলে। (The nouns which can be counted are called Countable Noun.)

যেমনঃ Boy, girl, cow, man, book, river ইত্যাদি।

সাধারণত Proper, Common ও Collective Noun গুলো Countable Noun.

Countable Noun এর বৈশিষ্ট্য

(i) Countable Noun Singular ও Plural উভয়ই হয়। যেমনঃ A cow – two cows.

(ii) Singular Countable Noun এর পূর্বে Determiner ব্যবহৃত হয়। যেমনঃ He has a book.

Each student has a book.

Note : যেসব শব্দ কোন ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুকে সনাক্ত করে বা তাদের সংখ্যা বা পরিমাণ নির্দেশ করে তাদেরকে Determiner বলে।

Countable Noun এর তালিকা

(a) Persons, animals, plants etc. (ব্যক্তি, প্রাণী, উদ্ভিদ ইত্যাদি।) যেমন : Friend, horse, bird, rose.

(b) Objects having shape (আকার আছে এমন বস্তু)। যেমন : Ball, car, hat, hand, house ইত্যাদি।

(c) The individual parts of a mass (একটি ভরের অবিভক্ত খণ্ড)। যেমনঃ part, element, atom, piece, drop.

২. Uncountable Noun

যে সকল Noun কে গণনা বা Count করা যায় না, তাদেরকে Uncountable Noun বলে। (The nouns which can not be counted are called Uncountable Noun.)

যেমনঃ Milk, water, tea, rice, paper, blood, weather, honesty, kindness ইত্যাদি।

সাধারণত Material ও Abstract Noun গুলো Uncountable Noun.
